Keith Purtill bought his first bus in 1951 and in doing so founded a business that over 50 years later is striding confidently forward in the new century under the guidance of son's Neville and Brian.
Keith's original idea was to start a trucking business, but during the time after after World War II there was a shortage of trucks available in the country. Instead he bought his first school bus and started the Blighty to Deniliquin school bus run, beginning the important job of safely transporting the children of the area.
With a ready supply of buses standing idle during school hours and holiday periods, a move into tourism and travel was a natural progression. A second hand coach was purchased in 1976 which started the travel arm of the company.
Purtills Coach Tours is situated in the Head Office complex in Deniliquin and operates school bus runs in Deniliquin, Hay and Wakool areas. These days most of our vehicles are coaches - offering versatility by catering not only for school runs and excursions, but also charters or touring.
A fleet of hire-drive vehicles are also available for those that need the extra seating, but like to drive themselves. There are also a wide range of cars and light commercials for hire.
In over half a century of business, Purtills has expanded include Service Stations, Leading Edge Video Store and Bulk Fuel distribution throughout the Southern Riverina, including both Deniliquin and Hay.
